Project RPM 5 Carbon Turntable
The RPM 5 Carbon features a specialised anti-resonant platter construction, utilising a ‘sandwich’ method to drastically reduce potential vibrations that may otherwise disturb the integrity of your vinyl records. When combined with the cork-mat and screw-down record clamp, the density and vinyl-contact are improved even further to offer an uncompromised performance.
The platter runs on a low-tolerance, chrome-plated, stainless steel axle on a Teflon bearing plate, housed within a sintered bronze bearing, while the main bearing is dampened by a central metal block. This means that the centre of gravity used by the RPM 5 Carbon is at its optimum position, furthering the enhancement of the overall sound quality.
While the platter construction is impressive, the point of pride for this model is the exceptional headshell and tonearm unit, which has been fashioned precisely using a single piece of lightweight carbon-fibre. The solid yet light material means that the height of the tonearm can be adjusted with great accuracy, even though the headshell is fixed in place. To further the overall quality of the arm, Project has damped the unit in silicone.
